Ba Chua Xu Festival
This festival takes place every year on Sam Mountain from the 23rd to the 27th of the 4th lunar month. To get there, follow provincial road 10 from Long Xuyen to Chau Doc, and travel an extra 7km to reach Sam Mountain. Sam moutian can aslo be reached by boat from Can Tho, Soc Trang and sai Gon. The ceremony, also called Via Ba ceremony, attracts a great number of tourists who participate in the many folkloric ceremonies.They also take this opportunity to travel and contemplate the breathtaking landscapes of An Giang.
Nguyen Trung Truc Temple Festival
This temple is located in Long Kien village, Cho Moi district and is dedicated to Nguyen Trung Truc, the leader of the patriots who rose against the French in Nam Bo. he had destroyed a French boat on Nhat Tao River the 19th century. The festival begins on the 18th of the 10th lunar month to commemorate the glorious achievements of this leader. After the rituals, the historical battle against the French boat is re-enacted.
Cows race festival of Khmer Ethnic Group

Cows race festival is unique traditional culture of Khmer people in Tinh Bien and Tri On districts. The race tracks is an even ground with 60m wide and 170m long, surrounded by high edge land and also used for spectators sit or stand at it. At the ground is trace line 90m long, 4m wide; the starting point and achievable point is at the beginning and at th end of trace line. On the festival day, two cows are tethered the harrow. The frame of harrow is pedal consists of a flat wood 30cm wide and 90cm long, under it is cogs of harrow. Each of couple cows are managed by two men. A chief-men (nai) stands on the pedal to manage the cows. Before and after the race, cows are looking after carefully. Every year, the cows’s race festival is organized on Don Ta ceremony ( the worshipping ancestral ceremony ) the last day of Octorber by lunar calendar of Khmer.

Xu Lady Lord Temple

The Temple is located in Vinh Te Hamlet, Chau Doc Town, and was established at the beginning of the 19th century. The temple of Lady history has two legends told about it the first one is that the temple of Lady Chua Xu was built by the people because they believed the Lady to be sacred. The second legend relates that Madam Chau Thi Te, the wife of Thoai Ngoc Hau, builder of the Vinh Te canal, swore to erect a temple when the canal, whose construction claimed many lives, was completed. She died before being able to carry through on her oath, but Thoai Ngoc Hau implemented her plans by building the templ of Lady Chua Xu. At first the temple was made of bamboo. In 1962, it was roofed with double tiles. Then in 1972, it was rebuilt ( except the 10 meter long stone wall at the back, which was the temple’s old platform). In 1976, the monument was complete. The temple of Lady Xu is constructed according to the Chinese character ” quoc”, has 4 square roofs, roofed with blue pile-shape tiles. The house that used for displaying statues also has 4 square roofs. Inside the temple, the lady statue. carved artistcally of grey stone, is worshipped. The statue was carved in 6th century, based on the motif of the Deity Vishnu’s statue, which is often seen in Laos, Cambodia and India. The Lady Xu festival is held annually on the last day of the fourth lunar month. Thousands of people come here to attend the washing of Lady’s statue; to burn joss-sticks offer flowers to pray for her blessings.
Sam Mountain
From Long Xuyen, one has to travel almost 60km to get to Sam Mountain, which lies 6km west of Chau Doc, at approximately 2km from the frontier between Vietnam and Cambodia. The 230m high mountain does not only offer beauiful landscapes, but it is also where many historic remains deeply loved by the inhabitants of Nam Bo plain are located. Ba Chua Xu Temple, Tay An pagoda,Thoai Ngoc Hau Tomb, Tao Ngo Garden and Bach Van Hill are among the famous sites to visit near Sam Mountain.
Tay An Pagoda

The pagoda was built in harmony with the natural landscape of the area The pagoda was constructed in 1847 according to Hindu architectural styles. The main gate is of traditional Vietnamese design. In front of the pagoda are statues of a black elephant and a white elephant. Around the pagoda are monks’ tombs.
Thoai Ngoc Hau Tomb
This site commemorates Thoai Ngoc Hau who built villages and dug Vinh Te and Thoai Ha channels. His tomb was built at foot of Sam Mountain.The tomb area is in harmonious architecture style, surrounded by thick walls, which were made of stone. In the middle of the platform is tomb of Thoai Ngoc Hau, two sides are those of his wives. Nearby are several dozen other tombs of the officials who served under Thoai Ngoc Hau during that time.
OC-Eo Citadel
This citadel lies in the mountainous region of Sap Ba The in Thoai SOn district, 30km from Long Xuyen. The ancient citadel of OC-Eo used to be a commercial harbour in the middle ages. It was later discovered when people dug out soil too build Ba The channel.
