Traditional Festivals in Mekong delta of Vietnam
Go Thap festival
Go Thap Archaeological Area comprises five main relics among which the temples of Doc Binh Kieu and Ba Chua Xu are the most famous. Every year, tourists from everywhere visit the temples and take part in the festival. The ceremony consecrated to Ba Chua Xu takes place on the 16th of the 3rd lunar month. The anniversary of the death of Doc Binh Kieu occurs on the 15th and 16th of the 11th lunar month. During the festival, prayers for peace, ceremonies consecrated to the God of agriculture, and rituals consecrated to Doc Binh Kieu and Ba Chua Xu occur in a solemn atmosphere accompanied by traditional music. Other activities such as a unicorn dance, songs, wrestling, and a battle of fire entertain the pilgrims. Go Thap Festival is a ceremony to obtain peace and abundant crops.

President Ho Chi Minh’s Father Tomb
Approximately 2km from Cao Lanh along the Route 23 is the tomb of Nguyen Sinh Sac (1862-1929), the father of the late President Ho Chi Minh . The tomb was built between August 1975 and February 1977 on an area of one hectare in memory of the man who raised a Vietnamese national hero. Visitors, both local and foreign, visit them tomb.
Thap Muoi Stork Garden
This stork park is located 35km from Cao Lanh where visitors can closely observe the white storks. The adjacent cajeput forests and verdant bamboo bushes are also the meeting places of various kinds of storks. They live in pairs and never migrates with the season. Go Thap Archaeological Area
This historical area is located in Tan Kieu Commune in Thap Muoi District, 11km north of Thap Muoi and 43 km from Cao Lanh .Go Thap Archaeological Area is well known for five main relics: Thap Muoi Hill, Co Tu Tower, Binh Kieu Grave, Minh Su Temple, and Queen Xu Temple. Relics in this area bear great cultural and historical value. Co Tu Tower is located 100m north of Thap Muoi Hill. It was built during the Thieu Tri period (1841-1842) and was formerly known as the Temple of Chan Lap. Behind this temple is the Dong Thap Muoi military base, which was under the command of Doc Binh Kieu, one of the leaders of the resistance against French troops. Over 2000 years ago, Thap Muoi Hill was residential area. Archaeologists have discoverd a number of antiques in this area, especially artifacts belonging to the Oc_Eo civilization. During both National Resistance Moverments against the French troops and the United Statea Army, the military base supported liberation organizations and other resistance activities. With its historical and cultural value, Go Thap has been nationally recognized as a cultural vestige by the Ministry of Culture and Information. It is expected to be developed into an interesting tourist area.

Tan Qui Dong Flower Gardens
Tan Qui Dong, approximately 3km from the provincial capital od Sa dec, is famous all over Vietnam for its flower gardens, particularly rose gardens. Roses3are transported daily to shops in HCM City and other provinces. Some nurseries cultivating medicinal herbd are also located in this area.
Tam Nong Bird Park
Also Tram Forest of Birds, Tam Nong Bird Park is a conservation region located in Tam Nong district, 45km from Cao Lanh Town. The park’s diversified flora and fauna covers an area of 7,500 ha. Among the 200 bird species are many rare and precious species that are not found in any other places in the world. The bird park is under the protection of international institutions to preserve, protect, and develop the species living in the area. Getting there by road it takes 1 hour and a half. It is possible to get there by boat.

*Transport: Cao Lanh is 171km from HCM City. Buses direct are from SaiGon, also from My Tho, Can Tho, Vinh Long, Long Xuyen. Sa Dec is 143km from HCm City, midway between Vinh Long and Long Xuyen, accessible by bus, minibus, and car.
