“Dang bong” ceremony
When the Phum and Soc people need to build a bridge, road, school, pagoda, or other public projects, the holding ” Dang bong” ceremony to raise money for the construction. During the ceremony, the bonzes chant prayers, while the local people welcome traditional singing groups to perform here.
“Dang Phuoc” ceremony
The Khmer, in the southern delta provinces often hold this ceremony in commemoration for their deceased friends or family members.

Bac Lieu Bird Reserve
Located 4km east of Bac Lieu, the bird reserve lets visitors observe the animated life and activities of birds. The different stages in the life of a bird can be witnessed; from the egg laying stage to nest building. Some birds build concealed nests to fool predators and increase the life expectancy of their young. Bac Lieu Bird reserve is notable for its 50-odds species of birds, including a large population of graceful white herons. This is one of the most interesting sights in the Mekong Delta for both foreigners and Vietnamese tourists.

Located 7km from the town of Bac Lieu, the same road that takes you to Xiem Can is a Khmer pagoda. it is over a century old, was monumentally built and is carved and decorated in an original ethnicstyle.
Quan De (Ong) Chinese Pagoda
The Quan De Pagoda’s architectural work deeply characterizes the Hoa nationality. Located on the bank of Bac Lieu River, the Hoa people in the area consider it a cultural symbol of their nationlity. It was built in 1835 by a Chau Quai slat merchant who encouraged locals to raise funds for the construction. It houses several precious religious artifacts. The pagoda worships Quan Van Truong, a Chinese military mandarin from the San Kou period.

Unlike many other provinces such as Can Tho and An Giang , presently there are many western-styled villas and mansions in Bac Lieu Town. Only a few buildings were destroyed during the war. The remaining western style buildings include the villa of Bac Lieu Mandarin’s son. which stands along the river. The other villas are situated in Hang Me park, which has contains solemn official buildings, and villas such as the Administration House, the court, the Bo mansion (the head mandarin’s building), the Son quarter’s official building, Dong Trach. At present these building are used for the Provincial Library, the People’s Court of investigation, and Bac Lieu
Newspaper’s office. The construction materials, steel, marble, tiles, and bricks, were all imported from France. The 20th century western- style buildings have spacious surroundings, symmertrically designed architecture, and tile-covered foofs. The roofs are octagonal and the supporting rafters look somewhat look like those house in a pagoda. Bac Lieu’s old villas and mansions thus have their own style, quite unlike the French villas in Hanoi, Sai Gon, and Da lat. In general the western buildings in Bac Lieu have high ceilings, their exteriors are washed with yellow paint, and they have high vault- like roofs. Nowadays, in Bac Lieu 30 mansions and villas of different sizes remain standing along the two banks of the river. They are part of the heritage of the people in Bac Lieu province.
