Vietnam Tour Phong Nha Cave
The 14 grottoes of Phong Nha , 50km north-west of Dong Hoi and accessible by boat from Son Trach, are best visited on an organised tour from Dong Hoi.
Phong Nha cave is remarkable for its thousands of metres of passageways lined with a great variety of stalactites and stalagmites. The main tunnel is 1451 metres in lenght and has 14 halls. Travel within the cave is by boat and on foot.

Phong Nha caves have a total length of 7,729 m . The caves and grottoes are 10 to 40 m high. The deeper one penetrates, the more magical are the natural aspects of the cave. A few year ago, one expedition sponsored by the Royal Society , with the participation of the Department of Geology – Geograpphy of the College of Natural Sciences studied Phong Nha Caves and othet surrounding caves. Highly specialized instructments and techniques allowed the researchers to go 4,500m down into the caves. The expedition reported that Phong Nha caves were some of the few caves in the world to be so deep.
